Your best choices for less impact on the environment!

We have provided here a list of the most readily available commercial papers which we have thoroughly researched to authenticate their claims of reduced environmental impact.

For easy reference and selection we have indicated a basic rating scale from 1-10 (1 is to be considered in the the best selection range for the highest benefit to reduce environmental impacts of use, with 10* being the least significant interms of environmental benefits at the bottom of the scale).

The grading of our best selections scale takes into consideration all aspects of environmental impact/ natural resources & energy consumption/ local vs imported aspects of manufacture and transport/ ease of availability & delivery.

* Although a 10 rating in our scale is of the least environmental benefit, these stocks are significantly better than purchasing any of the 100's of commercially available standard locally produced and imported A4 copy paper stocks which have made no changes to their lack of environmental performance and are responsible for a large percentage of forest & rainforest destruction worldwide; also contribute significantly more to general pollution, carbon and greenhouse gas emmissions and increased energy use across the globe than any we have listed here in our table.

Simple Rules for Susutainable Paper Selection (Rules 1 & 2):

Rule 1:

Use Less! - Most of us still need to reguarly use some paper, however, the most sustainable and environmentally friendly way is to use as little as possible; or use none where you can avoid it.

Rule 2:

Choose Right! - When choosing paper for writing, copying & printing purposes select a stock you can afford* which is less environmentally damaging.
